The Return

We are back from our week long spring break. It was tough to get out of bed this morning for me and my girls! (it helped a bit that I got to use my new Ninja blender for smoothies and my Shakeology.)
As I proceed through my intervention groups, I can tell those students who read over break and those who did not. I am hoping it does not take long for those who did not read to shake off the rust. I did have a pleasant surprise with two of my kindergarten readers. They both read over break and were proud to read for me today. They are making nice gains and I look forward to watching them grow as readers and writers over this last quarter of school.
We are in the home stretch (minus the too many days of testing that lay ahead), and I can feel the excitement at being 3/4 of the way through the school year. This last bit is going to fly!

  1. My daughter is on Spring Break this week and then when she goes back to school; things will take off and the end of the year will be here before we know it. I remember returning from break to as a school librarian; it seemed time just flew. I hope you have a great rest of the school year.

  2. I feel your pain, my spring break also ended today. What made it harder to get out of bed is that my husband and youngest daughter were still on break today. They will go back tomorrow.
Keep encouraging those young readers, I see too many at the high school level that refuse to pick up a book or any thing else that requires reading.

  3. We had the same conversations in sixth grade about reading (or not reading) over spring break. I'm excited and nervous for the rest of the year. Best of luck to you and your students

  4. I sent home bags of books with my intervention kiddos. And we talked and talked about how much growth they have made and how important it is to keep reading. I sure hope that they did it!
