SOLSC 7/31 #sol16

Sunday-Family Day

This is the last day before road limits go on due to the upcoming spring thaw. My husband is a logger and it means that more than likely, he will not have any wood  hauled for 8 weeks (which means no paycheck for 8 weeks). He was finishing up his jobs, getting his machines ready to move and really wanted some company.

Sunday is usually our family day, so yesterday it included some "work time." We took a walk through the woods and my husband explained why this forest plan was in place. My girls love to listen to him and learn about why he cut some trees and left some others. This forest plan was put in place to regenerate aspen to encourage wildlife to move in. Apparently, come animal species will only move in if there is an older stand of aspen next to a younger stand. We were glad to spend some time together outside on such a beautiful day and to give my husband some company (as he usually works alone).

  1. There is such a great hidden message here for your children... that work can be fun and that we support each other in times of need. Thank you for your slice today.
