SOLSC 13/31 #sol16

Books, books, and more books!

As I said, before in a previous post, Mrs. Annette, our children's librarian at the public library is always on the look out for new books for me. This week she sent me the picture below and asked which ones interested me.

I have an extensive PLN on Twitter that includes some voracious readers whom I can always count on to give me book recommendations. I sent a tweet out to the #nerdybookclub group as well as to Jillian, Donalyn and Aliza. All three ladies sent me responses back, and I proceeded to check out Tru & Nelle and Sweet Home Alaska. I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful readers in my life who never fail to offer great book recommendations!

  1. I love this. I'm always trying to stay on top of new books so I can recommend to my kiddos. I'll add these to my list, too. Thank you!!

  2. I really liked George as well. I need to develop my skills on the whole PLN thing--good for you for knowing how to get advice like that!

    1. Wendy, I would be so lost without my PLN! It has changed and grown over the last 3 years that I have been on Twitter, but it constantly pushes me professionally!

  3. I think I would have struggled not to respond to your librarian's question with "All of them!" I don't know if I'm more jealous that you have such a good relationship with a clearly in tune & passionate librarian or that your library seems to get a decent number of current books. I feel like sometimes I go to the public library and the "New Books" shelf has a skimpy collection of not so new material!! Thank you for sharing your book love with us today.

    1. I am so lucky to Mrs. Annette to help me out with books & our little library does a super job keeping up to date with materials. We also have access to about 30 other libraries to get books if ours does not carry them. I am presenting with Mrs. Annette on book talks and our public library. I just wish we had her in our public schools too! We have cut back so much on librarian staffing. We have one Library Media Specialist for our entire district of about 1400 kids. We used to have one for each building!
