SOLSC 1/31 #sol16

My first try at a new "streak".  I have completed a couple streaks over the years. I have participated in three years of the Runner's World Holiday Run Streak and I have done a holiday picture book streak with my class. I have always enjoyed the streaks I have participated in. I like having a set goal, a timeline and a community to share it with.
I am nervous setting out on this new adventure. I used to write much more as a classroom teacher. I loved sharing the experience with my students. Now that I am a reading specialist and coach, my writing has taken a backseat. I look forward to seeing how I progress as a writer and how I make time for it in my life once again.

I am a voracious reader, so I hope to use this quote from one of my favorite writers to inspire my writing.

  1. The most important thing is to put yourself out there and try, and you are doing just that! Looking forward to writing alongside you this year. Here's to 30 more days!

  2. Lester Laminack is so right! You have to read to write and you have to jot down noticings because you can never remember them later. This challenge will jump start your writing life. Enjoy it all month long!

  4. This is definitely a streak worth tackling! Lester is right, and I think it's something we get too overwhelmed as teachers to keep on our radar. Good luck with the challenge!

  8. We are in similar situations with our positions as interventionist and literacy coach. This is also my first SOL challenge, as well. This challenge is exciting and at the same time anxiety-inducing. I feel brave for giving it a try. Good for you giving it a try!! I can't wait to see what else you have going on here. Thanks for your post today!

  9. I'm with you--voracious reader extraordinaire. Somethings I think (well, I know) that it is a form of procrastination from my writing... But even a little bit of writing every day is better than nothing, and makes me appreciate the books I read and the stories other authors weave a whole lot more! Welcome to this new kind of streak!
